Exercise Physiology

At EP Clinic Noosa the prescription is exercise, as we believe EXERCISE is Medicine!

The Exercise is Medicine message is simple. Exercise is the best, cheapest, most accessible medicine available and in order to improve chronic disease mortality rates, people need to move more.

That sounds easy enough, but sometimes you need to understand ‘how’ to Exercise Right for you condition. Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists apply clinical reasoning for the provision of your exercise prescription. This ensures that you can exercise in a safe and effective manner to achieve your health goals.

Pain changes everything!

Pain affects motor control in unpredictable and inconsistent ways. To re-establish authentic motor control, it is crucial to choose corrective exercises based on movement dysfunction, not pain or diagnosis. The goal of the SFMA is to capture the patterns of posture and function for comparison against a baseline and address mobility before expecting a new level of motor control. Working from a neuro-developmental perspective we can retrain movement patterns, through functional exercises prescribed in a logical order of basic patterns that mimic the natural development of human movement. Stated differently, if we change perception, we can change movement behaviour. We call this reloading the software! If you would like to move well, and move often make an appointment to see us.

My Health for Life (MH4L Provider & Facilitator)

Exercise is my passion. Even from a young age, I  was writing countless exercise programs, running my siblings through their paces, and trying  out for various sports,  all in the pursuit of fun, fitness and the satisfaction that comes from overcoming physical challenges.

It wasn’t until I started studying a degree in Human Movement at the age of 21, that I found my love for track cycling. I became a member of the Carnegie/Caulfield Cycling Club in Victoria and spent a good part of the next 5 years wearing Lycra (yay!), riding around an old velodrome and competing in weekly club/state competitions. The training was challenging, both physically and mentally, but I was inspired by those who encouraged me to persist and do my best. Little did I know, on my relocation to the Sunshine State in 2000, I would meet my future husband on my first Brisbane bunchy!

Now, as a qualified Exercise Physiologist, my approach to exercise encompasses the best evidence-based research and clinically-proven techniques available, as well as my own personal experience and motivation to help others enjoy wellbeing. I know that human movement has as much to do with behaviour as it does mechanics. To start moving your body in the right way, you must be able to visualise yourself achieving your goal. As an Exercise Physiologist who is invested in seeing you succeed, I can guide and motivate you to mentally ‘flick the switch’ and commit to making positive changes that will help you to achieve your health goals and see amazing improvements in your day-to-day life. Developing this strong mental framework, with a system of implementation, is my goal for you at EP Clinic Noosa…
